Summer Fun!

We are having some great adventures this summer! Going to the pool a lot. The girls were on Firebrook swim team and that was a new and exciting time. They loved it. Swimming every day and swim meets on Wednesdays. It was a very good thing for the girls.
We also spend most every day with my sisters kids. I have been keeping them for her this year. That is a lot of fun for all 7 kids. We sometimes go on adventures during the day or just spend the day at a pool of some sort.
Jonathan and i didn't get to go to his sisters this year, we are trying to not spend money we don't have, i am sure everyone who reads this understands that statement. It was a very hard decision to make. However we did go camping in NC for two nights. We had a blast. the kids got to swim in some amazing waterfalls, and we had some great roasted marshmallows. The funniest thing was Jon running around the outside of the tent in the middle of the night chasing away raccoons.
I also just finished spending the weekend with my friend KATY! I just love her so much! It is easy to be with her, because we just fall back into our giggly stage. And we don't have to be doing anything major to enjoy each others company.
I love summer! It is the best time of my entire year. I get to spend precious moments with my kids, snuggle with them in the mornings, give them my undivided attention and I am not exhausted all the time. I am not ready for school to start at all!!! Bring on the lake, the pool, the park, some picnics, lemonade, kool aide, ice cream, and sunshine!!!!

Samuel

The other morning i was sitting on my swing drinking my coffee, and reading my bible. MY FAVORITE PLACE.
I began to read about Samuel, Samuel the son of Hannah that is. Let me tell you it really blessed my heart. It painted a picture for me just how dear my Samuel is. I wanted him. I asked God for him. My heart yearned for a baby and God gave me Samuel. He really is sunshine to me. Samuel has a very tender heart. He loves with his whole heart, and is excited about some fun things.
After i finished reading and thanking God again for my sweet blessing in Samuel, i went in the house. He as coming down the stairs and i took him in my arms and told him i loved him, and what a blessing he was, and that I had asked God for him and he gave me a precious gift in him. In his 8 year old way he said... "Mom you ok?" i had to laugh, and then he told me he loved me too.
My children are such gifts... from Leila's outstanding knowledge, and crooked little smile, to Alaina's giggle of joy, and Samuel's sweet gentle spirit. Thank you Jesus for my kids.

First week of Summer break

This, week has been so great and busy at the same time! The girls started swim team and boy does that keep us busy. I am also keeping my sisters 4 kids two days a week to earn a little extra money. I am hoping it works out! So far I haven't been able to start the summer deep clean on my house yet, but i am waiting for a rainy day to do that. Well a rainy day that doesn't get consumed by swim team Yes they swim in the rain, it is serious stuff.
Alaina and Leila did very well on their first meet. They didn't win their races but they swam their little hearts out. Leila was in the lead but Jon was video taping her and she paused to look at the camera. DOH....

Summer is my favorite part of the year. I get to be a mommy and nothing but a mommy. I love those special moments i can share with the kids because i am not exhausted or irritated by work. and they tend to like Summer mommy better too.

If you read my skinny blog, or really my not so skinny blog, you will read about this new challenge i am taking on to run the breast cancer race in october. it is called couch to 5k a nine week training. I am trying to recruit samuel to help me keep time. I want to run this race to 1. Support breast cancer research for people like my mom who have battled it, 2. get my butt in gear to lose some of this weight i have gained (looking rather portly lately) 3. Just feel healthy all around.

Over all we are off to a great summer. Just finished an amazing series at our church about finances, and boy did i need that. The weekend i sang in the choir i heard the message three times... that was meant to be i am sure!!! Budget here we come, and it aint going to be easy, in fact it makes me a little nervous blogging about it.

Here is to a productive, athletic, fun filled, relaxing, kid enjoying summer!

Alaina Faith

Tomorrow Alaina graduates Pre-school! I am excited for her because she is excited! We spent the weekend pretty much inseperatable! She helped me cook breakfast on Saturday, and clean the kitchen and she loves to do dishes. She has such a sweet spirit, but also has a hard time taking NO for an answer.
She really blesses my heart. She has such a winning personality but it is also extremely hard to see my baby growing up. Alaina is creative, she paints, she writes, she talks ALL THE TIME, she sings and generally makes me smile.
On her fifth birthday she told me she could still be my baby until she is six. Am i ruining her? haha.

With all this come a little sadness. I NEVER thought I would want another baby. I have that sadness in my heart that my life didn't go exactly how I planned. But i know that i am wonderfully made and God is in control of my life with His plans not mine. What I wanted was a LARGE family and to stay at home and take care of that very large family. I would love to be pregnant again and have that amazing feeling of a baby in my arms again. I guess it also has to do with my age. I don't want to be passed the age of having kids and being young. I know i know i am only 35 but i loved that baby time of my life.
I have grown so much in this year in my relationship with God and in just resting in the fact that I can let him have control of my life. So why is it so hard?

Over all i enjoy my kids so much everyday. On Sunday Samuel cooked his own eggs. He was thrilled. They say some fun things, like Samuel said he was much more interested in stories of Papa John's childhood than his own daddy's. Cute! He loves his Papa John so much!

I can't wait for school to be out! I can't wait for lazy mornings, and walks and time just to be with them! to be only a mommy, and a wife! To make memories and to share summer days is so fun! and blesses my heart.

May

Well we made it through April... birthdays, weddings, events, craziness!!! Now for May which is just as busy if not more. I can't wait for school to be out! CAN'T WAIT! I am so looking forward to lazy mornings with the kids, going to the pool. Riding our bikes, which btw ALAINA is now riding a two wheeler. Picnics in the park are my favorite. Ahhhh summer. But i have to make it through may to get there.
Isn't it horrible that as teachers we wish nine months of our lives away every year! I need to really do some work with that. Instead of waking up on monday wishing it was friday, maybe just be thankful for the day i do have??? how do you do that?
Waking up in August, wishing it was already the end of MAY.

April

April is unbelievably busy. It seems like i have something to do every day this month. I have had uprising, carnival, three birthday's already and i have Alaina's birthday tomorrow, Heather's is Friday, mine is next Thursday :) and it just blows me away. Plus weddings, parties, school stuff. WOWSERS APRIL.
I spent the weekend with my mama and that was great. She is such an amazing women. She loves with her whole heart. She worked until she was worn out for her friend Stephanie to have a great wedding shower, and then looked beautiful for the party. i hope i can do that when i am her age. I also see a lot of my determination for things to be nice that i had to get from her. We are very similar and i am greatful for that.
I am asking God, and my body to be down 10 pounds from my starting weight two weeks ago for my birthday. I have a week and a half to go and about 4 or five pounds. i guess i need to exercise.

Alaina is growing too fast. WAY too fast. She is five tomorrow. I no longer have any babies. How did that happen. I really just want to hold her in my lap and not let her go. she has such a great personality. She brightens my day, and can take my worst mood and make it better. She is always talking and singing and is just such a joy in my life. I am sad for the choices i made to not have any more children. They are really my heart and my joy in life. don't get me wrong i get very frustrated and by no means are we perfect but they are my best work. Hahaha. I love them. And i am having that babyitis right now. :)

Skillet and Toby Mac

Jonathan got me the most amazing christmas gift this year. Tickets to see Skillet and Toby Mac Live!!! We went last weekend to Huntington WV and rocked out to our two most favorite bands. It was so great to have that time with Jonathan! It was like we were teenagers again. It was a wonderful date. A time to reconnect, and a time to just spend together doing something we both love very much! I will never forget it.
Not to mention that Skillet totally ROCKED the HOUSE!!!! and Toby well what can i say? He was amazing as always.

I say all this just to remind all my married friends not to forget what you first loved about your spouse. And to fight for those little things, to keep your marriage kindled! It is so worth it, and that is how you will keep one of those amazing Keys to your heart: Friendship with your spouse!

New Baby in the Family

I am happy to announce that my Brother and Sister in-law are going to china on May 6 to get their son! We are thrilled to have John as part of the family, and we all can't wait to meet him! Ed and Teri-Jo are so excited to finally be able to hold little John in their arms. We have all prayed and waited axiously for his arrival! Keep them in your prayers.

it has been a while

Wow i haven't posted on this blog for a while.
We are all doing well. Alaina is about to turn 5 and i can't believe it.
Spring Break was amazing, we got to see both sets of parents and I had a great time with my mom on the beach. That is our favorite place, and it was just wonderful being there with her.
Foxy now has three legs after a long hard road of trying to heal the leg that got hit by a car. She is doing great and you would never know she only had three legs.
Easter was beautiful, it reminds me of the simple things in life, and how delicate things can be.
